Pakistan to play home series against Proteas, Sri Lanka in UAE 2013
UAE has been ‘home’ to Pakistan for the past few years after security concerns forced them to play all their home series here. The UAE will play host to the Pakistan-South Africa series, which involves two Tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals in October and November. Pakistan will then return in December for the series against Sri Lanka, which will run till the end of January. Pakistan will play three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20s Internatonals against Sri Lanka.
Sources exclusively told PCN that according to a tentative schedule drawn out, Abu Dhabi will host the first Test and the third and fourth ODIs of the Pakistan-South Africa series. Abu Dhabi is likely to host one Test and two One-Day Internationals of the Pakistan-South Africa series after a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official confirmed on Monday that two of Pakistan’s home series will be held in the UAE. Dubai will host the second Test.
Sharjah will play host to the first and fifth ODIs, while Dubai will host both the Twenty20 Internationals. The world’s No.1 ranked Test side South Africa are expected to arrive on October 5. The first Test will be held at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from October 14 to 18. The second Test will be held in Dubai’s Dubai Sports City from October 23 to 27.
The series then heads to Sharjah for the first of the five ODIs. The first ODI is on October 30 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The second ODI is pencilled in for November 1 to be held in Dubai.
Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium will host the third and fourth ODIs on November 6 and 8 respectively.
The fifth and final ODI will be held in Sharjah on November 11. Dubai will host the two Twenty20 Internationals on November 13 and 15 respectively. The Pakistan-Sri Lanka series will be held from December 7 to January 28.
