ICC announces schedule of warm-up matches







The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced the schedule of men's and women's warm-up matches which will be played in the lead up to the Twenty-20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

The fourth edition of the event will be staged from September 18 to October 7. The men's competition will be staged in Colombo, Hambantota and Pallekelle while the women's group stage will be played in Galle. The event will begin for the men on September 18 and September 26 for the women, said a press release issued here.

However, Colombo alone will host the warm-up matches for both the men and women. The men's warm-up matches will be played from September 13 to 17 and women's matches on September 22 and 23.

Pakistan will play its warm-up matches against defending champion England and Australia at the NCC Ground and P.Sara Oval on September 17 and 19.

In the feature warm-up match, Asian rivals and former champions Pakistan and India will go head to head at R.Premadasa Stadium on Monday (September 17). Schedule of warm-up matches (Men)-

September 13: Ireland v Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka v West Indies.

September 15: Afghanistan v Sri Lanka, Australia v New Zealand, Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, India v Sri Lanka.

September 17: Australia v England, Bangladesh v Ireland, New Zealand v South Africa, Afghanistan v West Indies, India v Pakistan.

September 19: England v Pakistan. Schedule of warm-up matches (Women)-

September 22: Pakistan v Sri Lanka, England v South Africa.

September 23: Australia v West Indies, India v New Zealand.
